What software is required to take a test?
Autodesk Online requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or better, and the Windows or Vista (32 or 64 bit) operating system. If you are testing at an Autodesk Certification Center, the center will meet the software requirements.
What are the hardware requirements to take a test?
Your computer will need to support the software requirements above. If you will be taking a 2009 Professional Practice test, your computer will need to support the required Autodesk application. For best results, use a 17” or larger monitor that supports 1024x768 resolution. If you are testing at an Autodesk Certification Center, the center will meet the hardware requirements.
Will the exams work over a dial-up connection?
If you purchase an Assessment or Application Proficiency Exam you can take the test using a dial-up modem, but the performance will be slower. For an optimal experience tests must be taken using a broadband connection, such as DSL or a cable modem.
Will my answers be lost if my computer crashes or I lose my internet connection?
No. All answers are saved each time you go to the next question. When you restart after a loss of connection, the test will re-start on the question that was displayed when you lost the connection. You will not lose anytime.
What is a passing grade of an exam?
The passing score varies depending upon the examination. Visit http://www.autodesk.com/certification for detailed information for each exam, including the passing score.
I am concerned about my privacy. Do you use cookies?
We value your privacy! We use session cookies to track the current test you are taking. Session cookies are deleted from your machine as soon as you close your browser. Although we may collect information through the test, it will be for research and evaluation purposes only. Read more about Autodesk’s privacy policy.
Will the exam work using a wireless internet connection?
The issue with wireless can be performance. There are four wireless standards: A; B; G; N. Each is backwards compatible typically, which can cause the problem. The last two (G and N) are acceptable , but the problem with some installations is that if a student uses A or B, then everyone is forced to run at the slower A/B speeds, which is not fast enough. Better wireless hubs handle this issue, and isolate the older technologies.
The other problem can be reliability. We have enhanced our software to allow students to easily re-connect when an error occurs, but if a test does require a relatively stable connection. Even if it is really bad, the software should handle it gracefully though.
